519-521 South Washington Street, demolished

This house passed from Henry A. Osborne, Jr. to Arthur C. Foster in 1917. Arthur was the son of Henry C. Foster and the brother of William C. Foster. Arthur and his wife Alexina sold this to Oden B. Keen (1889-1965) and Nellie P. Keen in 1919. Oden and Nellie sold it in 1943 to Omer L. Carson and G. Arnold Pfaffenbach. Oden worked as a maintenance person at Blackwater National Wildlife, Back Bay and Susquehanna Refuges. Carson and Pfaffenbach were attorneys who also invested in real estate. They sold the home the following year to Edward Watts (1890-1962) and Margaret Watts. They lived here for three years and sold it in 1946 to Walton E. Holliday (1889-1968) and Mattie Holliday.
Mattie predeceased her husband and when Walton Holliday died in 1968 he bequeathed his estate and this home William D. Tarbert (1897-1978) and Erma J. Tarbert. William was born in Pennsylvania and had 11 siblings and Erma was born in Havre de Grace. In 1975, the Tarberts sold the home to Hoke L. and Frances Fahey Huffman but Frances died three years later. Hoke Huffman sold the property to Thomas Earle Hitchcock (1946-2010), his stepson, in 1980.
Thomas Hitchcock was born in Havre de Grace and had a long career in the U.S. Marine Corps serving overseas as well as in the U.S. In 1982, Thomas and his wife, Fern, sold this home to the Harford Memorial Hospital after which they moved to Rising Sun, Maryland, where he died.
