213 South Washington Street, c. 1880

In 1867 this property was sold by a Circuit Court Trustee in a cause before the court to Catherine Dreshler (or Drechler). Ownership of the property again went before the Court in 1900 and was sold by a Trustee to Mary E.C. Healy. The exact date of construction is not known so we have used the Harford County built date; that would mean that Catherine Dreshler built it.
Mary Healy sold this in 1900 to George and Esther Bunce (who also owned the next door property at #201). Two years later George and Esther Bunce sold this house to Thomas J. Healy (who was a racehorse trainer). Although Thomas Healy died in 1916, Healy family members owned the house for about 60 years overall. Ownership descended to Anne C. Healy who, in 1961, sold the property to Dr. James Trone, Jr., a dentist, and his wife, Margaret Trone. Dr. Trone established a dental office in this building with a partner, Dr. Robert A. Carr (1926-2015), who was a WWII veteran having served in the U.S. Army Air Corp. At the time of the purchase of this property, Dr. Trone was living across the street at 214 South Washington Street, which he had bought in 1949.
In 1982, Dr. Trone died and his widow, Margaret Trone, sold this property to Dr. Trone’s partner, Dr. Robert A. Carr, and his dental practice continued as Carr Family Dentistry here for a total of 55 years. In 2002, this building was sold by Gene Louise Carr (Dr. Carr’s widow) to SMJ Properties, LLC. This is now the dental office of Dr. Joseph M. Fritz, DDS, PA who has been in practice since 1985. The second floor has a separate entrance and the house continues to be owned by SMJ Properties.
