100 Girard Street at the Water

John DuBois, a Pennsylvania lumber baron, built a retention pond and saw mill that captured and processed logs that were transported on rafts down the Susquehanna River in the late 1800s. The John DuBois Saw Mill and Lumber Yard extended along the water from Fountain Street to this location.
During the construction of the Log Pond Marina in the 1980s, logs were found on the bottom that had been there for more than 100 years. Many buildings in town were framed from the trimmed logs transported this way. The Log Pond Marina (named with a nod to its history) now serves the surrounding condominiums as well as the row of townhouses called “The Log Pond” on Concord Place at the foot of Revolution Street. In early 2018, brand new Epay Wood Floating Docks were installed at the Log Pond Marina.
