256 Revolution Street, c. 1910, demolished; rebuilt 2019

The original home here was likely built by 1910 by Robert K. Vanneman who bought the land in 1894, no doubt as an investment. He was widely known in the city as Cashier of the First National Bank and also served as Mayor for five successive terms until 1905. This house appears on the 1910 Sanborn Insurance Map. After the 1912 death of Robert Vanneman, the property was sold by Court Trustees to Jesse Ansalvish (1874-1944) and Esther Ansalvish of Cecil County in 1924. Just one year later they sold it to Carroll F. Keithley and Lillie Belle Keithley. The Keithleys raised their four children here, all of whom graduated from the Havre de Grace High School. In 1963, the widowed Lillie Keithley sold the property to James and Mildred Keithley, her eldest son and his wife.
In 1970 the property was bought by George Washington Kinney (1922-2002) and his wife, Jeanette Adkins Kinney (1935-2015). Jeanette Kinney worked for many years at the Perry Point VA Medical Center and also at Citizens Care Center, where she died in 2015.
The Kinneys raised their son, George D. Kinney, in the house. He worked at the Aberdeen Proving Ground at one point and inherited this property upon the 2015 death of his mother. However, just three years later, George Kinney died unexpectedly at the age of 59.
The house was advertised and sold by Trustees as a “rehab” in January 2019. However, the original house and sheds were completely demolished and a completely new home was built in their place and sold to Robert B. and Diana Holloway in 2020.
