599 North Union Avenue
The 1921 and 1930 Sanborn Insurance Maps show a building here called “Garage, capacity 20 cars, Repair Shop.” By the 1955 additions to the Sanborn Map, this garage is marked as “Contractors Storage.” It’s also in the approximate location of the current David Craig Park.
That one-acre Park was created in 2009 by a group of volunteers who spent many hours clearing debris and brush (as well as poison ivy!) away to create this waterfront park in honor of life-long resident, David Craig. They gave kudos to Vulcan Materials for the donation of granite that lines the shoreline, and Aldino Sod Farm for the donation of sod for the lower half of the park. David Craig was also a Havre de Grace Mayor and a Harford County Executive who now works for the State of Maryland. More recently, a level two CT 4000 ChargePoint Electric Vehicle Charging Station was installed in the parking area.
