421 South Washington Street, c. 1958

This home on the northeast corner of South Washington and Revolution Streets is a one-story brick, ranch-style house, similar in design to 419 South Washington Street, next door. At one time it was part of a larger lot of land that evolved into an ownership dispute in 1932 (between the neighboring Quirks and Nolans). Trustees of the Circuit Court sold this property to Mary E. Nolan and her sister Catherine Quirk. After the 1952 death of Catherine Quirk, Mary E. Nolan, a widow, sold the property to J. Ralph and Rose Beyrent.
It is most likely that this current home was built by the Beyrents around 1958 and they owned it until Rose Beyrent died in 1991. Ralph Beyrent then deeded the home to Mary Joan Beyrent (his daughter) and himself jointly. When Ralph died in 1994, this became Mary Joan’s property. It is not known whether she lived in the home at any point but in 2015 the Harford County Treasurer sold the home. For several years prior to that the home appeared unlived in, in disrepair, and even had a squatter living in the rear garden.
In 2015, the new owner, Stonefield Investment Fund 2, LLC, sold the property to Armando X. Estrada, for whom it appears to be an investment property. Armando and his family live in a historic property elsewhere in the city.
